Christmas Movies For Kids: Warm-Hearted Stories For Cold, Winter Nights

By Frances Bridger

A great gift to kids for Christmas could be a story book or its adapted movie. Christmas is an occasion where families get together and spend quality time with each other.

What better way to spend those cold, winter nights with your loved ones this Christmas, than to snuggle in front of the TV with popcorn, hot chocolate and a movie to warm your heart. So here are a couple of classic Christmas movies for those cold winter nights.

The Polar Express

One such movie is The Polar Express. The movie is centered on the theme of Christmas; so this movie as a gift on Christmas Day is a great idea. The movie is very interesting with the plot revolving around a boy who lays on his bed on Christmas Eve thinking about Santa Claus.

The Polar Express teaches kids to 'believe' in the Spirit of Christmas

He then hears a train outside and finds a conductor inside who tells him to board the train if he wants to see the North Pole and Santa. Then begins the journey of this amazing express train, which picks up other kids along the way.

They face different difficulties during the journey such as their tickets being lost, the train breaking down because of some problems and the kids accidently getting in the stack of Santa’s presents. In short, it is a fun filled movie that is guaranteed to give kids and parents an enjoyable time at Christmas.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Another movie in line with the theme of Christmas is ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas‘. This movie will also serve as a great gift for Christmas since it also revolves around this occasion. The movie focuses on a character Grinch who lives in a microscopic world with other beings. He despises Christmas and hates everyone who celebrates it with joy.

Another character of the movie, Cindy, discovers that he acts like that because of a troubled past. She invites him to a Christmas Eve party to make him feel better but the Grinch is still not moved.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas

The Grinch learns that Christmas is about more than just presents

He steals all the presents of the people so that they won’t be able to celebrate Christmas. But the next day, he is astonished to find that the people are still celebrating Christmas with much happiness and joy even without the gifts.

It then dawns upon him that Christmas is much more than an occasion of material things; it is about families and people sharing and enjoying time together. This movie, as a gift for Christmas, will not only be enjoyable but will also teach something good to kids about this occasion.
